ANNE OUTSPRINTS 'EM ALL IN PARK

Elbows out, girls!
Well, we got the typical Wed night Phoenix Park middle of May weather - wet and miserable, but OK for running. Up front, the pace was hot with Kathleen O'Callaghan looking to make it three in a row for the Summer League. On the first lap, her Sportsworld clubmate Mary Finn was keeping her company with Anne Ormsby of Fingallians a few yards off the pace.
"Watch out for Anne," said Paddy from Sportsworld. "She has a fast finish". So it proved with Ann belting up the Furze Road once she knew the finish was near to cross the line in 29 mins 52 secs. For second place, Kathleen hadn't the strength to hold off Mary, so we had a shuffling of the top three yet again.
In all, 124 women braved the conditions and there were a number of PBs - well done to Geraldine from Crusaders with a time of 32.05. Prizegiving and fun races hosted by Crusaders take place at Irishtown Track on Thursday May 24; register at 6.30 for a 7.30 start. Spot prizes, tea and sandwiches for all after.
