Caroline Wins in Swords

Caroline Conway of Sportsworld won the second round of the Women's Meet & Train Winter League hosted by Fingallians in Swords. Donore's Meabh Pevoy was second and Nicola Kavanagh of Sportsworld third on a drizzley day where the cup of tea was most welcome! Good to see newcomers from an assortment of groups in action - Bros Pearse, Raheny, Clonliffe, Dunboyne.   
Next round hosted by Sportsworld on January 13 will be the first ever cross-country  to be held in Bushy Park; Paddy promises a very special day. Put it in your diaries now!

Shona Outsprints Caroline for Victory in Dunboyne

 Shona Keane of Sportsworld  outsprinted her clubmate Caroline Conway to win the  opening round of the Women's Meet and Train Winter Series over a tough two-mile course in Dunboyne. Only six days earlier, Keane had finished 15th Irish woman in the Dublin Marathon with a time of 3 hrs 4 mins.  Pics at www.lindie.zenfolio.com. Dunboyne hosts first Winter League Race

Dunboyne will host the opening round of this year's Meet and Train Winter League on Sunday November 4 (11am).

Entry fee is €7 or  €20 for  the series of  four races, two before Christmas and two after. Best three results to count with overall league prizes for individuals in senior and master  categories as well as for teams in three grades;  6 on team with 4 to score in each run, so everyone has a chance. Plus spot prizes at every race. 

That's the way you go!

New groups and individuals are welcome from clubs,  fit camps, gyms, etc. A great way to stay fit in winter and to meet runners from other groups over a friendly post-race cuppa!

Meet and Train  Women's Winter League dates - November 4 Dunboyne; December 2 Fingallians Swords; January 13 Sportsworld Bushy Park; February 3 Lucan. All runs will start at 11am.

At Monday's meeting of team leaders in Donore,  it was agreed unanimously that we would consider the summer Road League to be finished, even though we only had two races.  So below are the final results based on the 2 mile and 4 mile races.  Thanks to all who took part.

Last night's meeting  - report by Manuelle Ratte of Belfield Runners. 
"We haven't forgotten the third race of the Summer League was never run and that some people had paid for that race. It was agreed to "forget about it"; the €20  paid for three races will be used to buy a t-shirt  or something else. 
"In the Winter League, there could be a fifth race depending on how the  first four races go but nothing has been decided.  We were thinking of having five races in the winter and two in the summer when it is even harder to find dates for races on the roads."  

Erin Makes it Two in the Park

Erin O'Connell from Sportsworld made it two in a row when she won the second  M&T Summer League Road Race over 4 miles in the Phoenix Park on Wednesday May 16.  With a good turnout from both teams and individuals in near perfect conditions - a cool, dry, still evening - there were  79 finishers.
* Thanks to Donore and Sue for hosting our second race last night and getting permission to use the Phoenix Park. There are a couple of queries in the results - I think a few people may have worn their numbers the wrong way round. If so let us know!

Phoenix Park 4-Mile - Bring Your Friends!

Women runner joggers and walkers are all welcome to take part in tonight's (Wed May 16) Women's Meet and Train 4-Mile road run in the Phoenix Park (.7.30pm) - a perfect dress rehearsal for the Women's Mini Marathon in about 20 days time.
Add in the jog from the the Donore Sports Centre and you will have put in six miles - the exact distance of the mini marathon. Plus you know you are sure of a warm welcome and plenty of encouragement.

Entry is €7 with registration in Donore taking place from  about 6pm. If you've never taken part in a  race before this is the one for you!
*From Barbara: The Park is putting major pressure on Sue to have LOTS of stewards for tonight. If we don't provide enough bodies,  they will call the police in to do the job and charge us a HUGE fee. Please, please, please bring extra help along.
