With a touch of spring in the air, we expect good numbers for the annual Summer League, which acts as a build-up to the Women's Mini Marathon.
This year's league will as usual consists of two mile, three mile and four mile runs. The first of these takes place in Raheny on Sunday April 25; start time is 11am with registration from 10am in the CARA Hall (All Saints Road - across the road from the GAA club and well known to Raheny 5 veterans). Other dates are Sunday May 23 (11.0), Lucan (3-mile); and Wednesday May 26 (7.45), Phoenix Park (4 mile), with prizegiving following.
New teams are welcome; all teams register on the day, with the usual diamond, gold, silver and bronze categories, so that everyone takes part at their own level and has a chance of winning a prize. Entry fee for the series is Eu18 or Eu7 per race (I think). All who finish will get a special series souvenir.Info Sue Lynch 086-2327570 or Barbara Tobin barbtobin@hotmail.com.
* Also worth noting is the 26th Dublin 5-Mile Classic organised by our friends in Sportsworld on Sunday May 16 (10am). Entry is €15; huge array of prizes; t-shirts, goodie bags. Reg online at www.sportsworld-terenure.ie, or pick up an entry form at Raheny (they may even take your entry on the spot!).
